PhonePe adds former revenue secretary and two executives from Walmart to its board

PhonePe has added former Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj on its board and appointed him as the Chairman of its risk committee.

The company has also taken on board Walmart executives – John D Rainey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Donna Morris, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, as non-executive directors.

PhonePe, in a statement, said, “We would like to confirm that Tarun Bajaj will be an Independent Director on the PhonePe Board and Chairman of the Risk Committee.”

With this, PhonePe has strengthened its board comprising eight members.

The statement added. “We would also like to confirm that John D Rainey (Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Walmart Inc) and Donna Morris, (Executive Vice-President, Chief People Officer, Walmart Inc) have joined the PhonePe Board as non-executive Directors.”

Other members on the board are Sameer Nigam and Rahul Chari, Founders, PhonePe; Binny Bansal, Co-Founder, Flipkart; Leigh Douglas Hopkins, Executive Vice-President – International Strategy and Development, Walmart and advisor Rohit Bhagat.
